The Blessed Mother appeared four times to Juan Diego, a Mexican peasant, in the early 1500s. She requested that he have a church built where she was appearing to him; however, no one believed him. When the archbishop demanded proof of Juan Diego's visions, Our Lady filled Juan's tilma (cloak) with roses. Later when he opened his tilma to allow the roses to fall at the foot of the archbishop, a beautiful image of the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared on the cloth of his tilma. Our Lady of Guadalupe, pray for us!
